In it, Dr Sin Harng Luh and Ms Shirleen He from the NUS Department of Geography examine the photographic records of voluntourists as well as critiques and satires of voluntourism like the popular ‘Barbie Savior’ Instagram account. Learn how, through these critical takes, interviews with voluntourists (all of whom are Singaporean undergraduates), and analysis of their social media postings, the depiction and act of travel and volunteerism in the developing world is negotiated and self-governed.<\/span><\/p>\n
