There is limited knowledge and information about Singapore\u2019s history before that. A\/P Borschberg\u2019s lecture demonstrated that Singapore had a much deeper history that existed pre-1819. Singapore\u2019s strategic location and potential as a trading hub was identified long before Raffles arrived. Singapore also fulfilled different roles and functions for various establishments across the centuries.<\/p>\n<p>The session was chaired by the President of RGS-IBG, Rt Hon. Baroness Lynda Chalker and attended by about 850 people at the Ondaatje Lecture Theatre in London.
