Host Joakim Gomez speaks to different stakeholders and knowledge-holders, one of which is geomorphologist Dr Nawaz Muhammad (NUS Geography).<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in NUS&#8217; Earth Lab, Dr Nawaz sheds light on the geographical history of the site of Jurong. According to Dr Nawaz, the Jurong Formation is one of three geological segments of Singapore&#8217;s natural geography and can be dated back 220 million years to the Jurassic period. The area is rich in sedimentary rocks, which served as good source material for the brickmaking and pottery industries that were once commonplace in Jurong, particularly the Jalan Bahar area.
