Learners will build a strong knowledge base in child counselling and practise core clinical skills, including therapeutic relationship-building, case conceptualization, facilitating insight, and supporting meaningful change.<\/p>\n<p>The course emphasises applied technique, with guided practice using somatic, symbolic\/expressive, cognitive, and behavioural interventions tailored to children&#8217;s needs and contexts. Holding a PhD in Social Work from the University of Hong Kong and a Master&#8217;s degree in Child and Adolescent Health from the University of Sydney, she has practiced across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. Her services include psychotherapy, trauma intensives, somatic therapy, and play and sandplay therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.<\/p>\n<p>Alicia&#8217;s integrative approach combines person-centered therapy, depth psychology, symbolic work, somatic practices, and neurobiological frameworks to help clients make meaning of their experiences and navigate life&#8217;s challenges. She is also an academic and clinical supervisor, teaching postgraduate courses across the Asia-Pacific region and supporting the development of mental health professionals through holistic, evidence-informed training.<\/p>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/swk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/07\/joanne-e1785461112316.png\" alt=\"joanne\" height=\"1240\" width=\"1240\" title=\"joanne\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<strong>Ms Joanne Ng<\/strong><br \/>\nSenior Play Therapist and<br \/>\nSocial Worker,<br \/>\nChildren&#8217;s Cancer Foundation\n<p>Joanne is a social worker and play therapist with over 10 years of experience at Children&#8217;s Cancer Foundation, where she works with children affected by cancer and their families. She believes deeply in the healing power of play &#8211; that through play, children can process fear, loss, and uncertainty in ways words often cannot reach.<\/p>\n<p>Her practice is trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that safety and connection are the foundation for meaningful healing. Joanne has received specialized training in Sandplay Therapy, Theraplay\u00ae, Synergetic Play Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).<\/p>\n<p>Beyond clinical work, Joanne trains and supervises colleagues and external partners. She is a Registered Professional Member and Supervisor with the Association for Play Therapy (Singapore), and a Certified Play Therapist and Supervisor with Play Therapy International (UK).
