Angshuman Choudhury
Background
Angshuman is a joint doctoral candidate in CAS at NUS and King’s College London. He is from the Northeast Indian state of Assam. Before coming to NUS, he worked as an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi, and prior to that, as a Senior Researcher and Coordinator of the Southeast Asia Research Program at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, New Delhi. He has an M.Sc. in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding from the School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University, UK. He completed his B.A. (Hons) in History from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. In 2019, Angshuman was a GIBSA Visiting Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin. He currently writes a weekly column on Northeast India in Hindustan Times, a major Indian daily.

Research Interests
Angshuman is interested in the politics and security of borderlands, and their relationship with both everyday social dynamics and larger foreign policy aspirations of nation-states. Within this context, his work focuses on Northeast India, Myanmar and western Southeast Asia. His PhD project aims to undertake a comparative study of various forms of sovereignties along the India-Myanmar and Thai-Myanmar borders.
