Chu Duy Ly

Background

Chu Duy Ly is from Dak Lak province which is located in the central highland of Vietnam and the home of many main local indigenous peoples such as Ede, M'nong and J'rai. In 2009 he graduated from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, a member university of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH - VNU HCM) with a B.A. in International Relations. In 2012 he earned his M.A. in International Studies at USSH - VNU in Hanoi.

Prior to pursuing a PhD in Comparative Asian Studies at NUS, Chu Duy Ly is a Lecturer at Faculty of Oriental Studies, USSH - VNU HCM. He also participated in research activities and programmes at Center for Khmer Studies, Global Seasonal School of Free University of Berlin, Mindanao Peace-Building Institute, and the Elliot School of International Affairs (GWU).

Asian Languages

Chu Duy Ly is a native speaker of Vietnamese and will be undertaking Chinese to fulfil his language requirements in the programme.

Research Interests

He teaches Introduction to IR, Theory of IR, Introduction to Conflict and Security in IR, Global Issues, and Contemporary International Politics, which are also his research interests. His current research at NUS demonstrates the ways the large technical systems, connecting hubs, regions and markets, translate into a leadership position and influence for Japan and China in Southeast Asia from a comparative perspective.
