Leonard Yeo
Background
Leonard obtained both his M.A. and B.A. in Chinese Studies from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Before embarking on his PhD, he worked as a research assistant at the Asia Research Institute (ARI) and as a teaching assistant in the Department of Chinese Studies at NUS. Additionally, Leonard has taught at Xavier School in Manila.

Leonard is fluent in Mandarin and Filipino.
Research Interests
Leonard’s research examines the intersections of faith (popular Catholicism) and culture (Chinese culture) within the Chinese diaspora in Southeast Asia, with a focus on the local Chinese Catholic communities in Manila and Singapore.
Leonard’s broader academic interests encompass Philippine studies, migration studies, folk religion, missiology (practical theology), as well as race and ethnic relations.
