Zhang Min

Background

 

Min obtained her first MA degree in Film and Cultural Studies from University of Southampton, and her second MA degree in English Literature Studies from Renmin University of China. Before joining NUS, Min worked as a Teaching Assistant at BNU-HKBU University (UIC), Department of Film, Television and New Media. She also worked and participated in “Dream East Group” in Beijing, and has many years of screenwriting experience in stage plays and children's animation production.

Asian Languages

Min is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. She has an intermediate proficiency in Cantonese, Shanghainese, Japanese and Korean. She is also a beginner in French for future research.

 

Research Interests

Min’s research interests include comparative study of Japanese and Chinese aesthetics and of Japanese and Korean pop culture. She is also interested in British and Japanese heritage film, as well as film narratology, film semiotics and film adaptation in general.
