Reflections from Singapore

“Systemic barriers comes with their own sets of challenges in different countries. Through the delegates’ sharing, I realised that the difference between VWOs in Singapore and overseas include 1) the amount of resources we can garner and 2) the support we have from our government. These may be factors that contribute to us being able to come up with more services locally. Yet, despite the varying challenges, what prevails is our fighting spirit- the spirit of going the extra mile for the populations we serve” — Ying Ning, AMKFSC Community Services

“They were a great bunch, asked a lot of good questions. They were also really respectful of our clients, and asked me on whether there were any cultural norms that we had to be aware of. We really had fruitful conversations with each other” — Social Worker from AWWA FSC

“I would like to affirm this batch of SSLEP participants for displaying good teamwork, team leadership, open minded and good positive attitude…they kept a positive open mind to understand the specialist agencies they were going to , and were also able to share they key learning points… they are adaptable and had a good learning attitude.” — Connie Ng, MWS FSC – Yishun
