Research Title: AI-Enhanced Monitoring of Greehouse Gases and Pollutants in Urban-Wetland Systems and Climate Impact Analysis in Tropical Southeast Asia
Research Group: Tropical Environmental Change (TEC)
Thesis Advisor: Dr Mengze Li
My research focuses on AI-enhanced monitoring and modelling of urban and atmospheric systems. I am particularly interested in integrating physical knowledge of air pollution processes with data-driven methods to achieve high-resolution mapping and source attribution of pollutants across space and time. By combining multi-source observations (e.g. satellite, ground-based, and emerging sensing platforms) with machine learning and implicit spatial representations, my work aims to better capture fine-scale heterogeneity and dynamics in complex environmental systems. More broadly, I am motivated by questions at the intersection of urbanisation, climate change, and human–environment interactions, including how urban pollution influences climate processes and how AI can support evidence-based environmental management and policy.
