Alessandro Del Ponte is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Alabama. Previously, he held postdoctoral appointments at Yale University and NUS. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stony Brook University (where he managed the experimental economics lab for two years), an MPA from SUNY Albany, and Economics degrees from Bocconi (MSc) and the University of Genoa (BSc). His work lies at the intersection of experimental economics and political psychology. He enjoys working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines to tackle the pressing questions of our time, such as climate change, economic crises, and the rise of nationalist politics. His articles have appeared in journals across several disciplines, including Nature Communications, the Journal of PoliticsPolitical BehaviorPolitical Psychology, Political Science Research and MethodsScience of the Total Environmentand Cognition among others. His research has been funded by the Russell Sage Foundation among others. He has taught courses on applying insights from moral psychology and behavioral economics to politics and public policy.
