Information for 2024
While you can get to Singapore by car, bus, and train from Malaysia or ferry from Indonesia, most Methods School participants will arrive by plane. Singapore’s Changi Airport is a major international hub with direct connections to and from anywhere in the Asia Pacific region as well as the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. It is served by all major airlines as well as many budget airlines such as Scoot, Jetstar, AirAsia, and IndiGo.
Please familiarize yourself with the Singapore immigration and customs regulations!
Getting to NUS
If this is your first time in Singapore, you might want to take a taxi or hail a Grab ride to the NUS Kent Ridge campus and UTown. Fares to campus can range from S$25 to S$45 depending on the time of your arrival and traffic. All Singapore taxis accept credit cards.
Alternatively, you can take the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) subway from the Changi Airport MRT station. Board the train to Tanah Merah MRT station and transfer to the Tuas Link-bound East-West Line (green) train. Now you have multiple options:
- Get off at Buona Vista MRT station and take SBS Transit bus #196 to UTown or #95 to the main campus.
- Get off at Clementi MRT station and take SBS Transit bus #96 from the Clementi bus interchange or #183 from below the MRT station to UTown or the main campus.
- Transfer at Buona Vista MRT station to the Harbour Front-bound Circle Line (orange) train and get off at NUS' very own Kent Ridge MRT station.
If you decide to take public transportation, we recommend that you use your contactless credit or debit card or buy an EZ-Link stored-value smart card at the Changi Airport or any other MRT station. EZ-Link cards are not only convenient, but offer reduces fares, free transfers, and can even be used to pay at many restaurants and convenience stores or for copying on campus.
Getting around Campus
All of Methods School venues are within easy walking distance of each other, and most walkways are covered to protect you from the sun and occasional showers. There are also eleven NUS-internal Shuttle Bus Service lines. The shuttle buses are free, run frequently, and connect all corners of the campus.
Getaways
If you have additional time before or after the Methods School, Singapore is the perfect base for exploring (Southeast) Asia, with most of the region's countries and tourist attractions less than 2 hours away by plane, ferry, bus, or train. Some of the most popular destinations include the World Heritage Sites of Angkor Wat, Malacca, and Central Java (Borobudur and Prambanan Temple Complexes), the sandy beaches of Bali, Phuket, and Langkawi, the natural beauty of Borneo's national parks, and the vibrant cities of Bangkok, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, and Kuala Lumpur.
