International Participants

Please note that possession of a valid visa or not being required to hold a visa does not guarantee automatic admission to Singapore. As with most countries, immigration officials at the port of entry make the final determination and consider each case on its own merits.

With this in mind, please be aware that all Methods School participants are classified as ‘participants’ and not as students. The IPSA-NUS Summer School for Social Science Research Methods is not a degree-granting institution, and Methods School participants are not enrolled at the National University of Singapore. Please do not confuse or alarm Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officials by referring to yourself as a NUS student in connection with your participation in the Methods School and the attendant purpose of travel to Singapore. Always identify yourself as a seminar or workshop participant.

Visas

Most Methods School participants can enter Singapore without a visa for up to 90 days. All you need is a passport that is valid for at least another 6 months and a completed SG Arrival Card with electronic health declaration.

Participants holding travel documents issued by one of approx. 30 countries require a visa to enter Singapore. If your country is on this list of countries, you need to apply for a short-term social visit entry visa (not a Student's Pass!) at your nearest Singapore Overseas Mission or through an Authorized Visa Agent before coming to Singapore.

The names and contact details of visa agents can be found on the websites of individual Singapore Overseas Missions. If you have a friend or relative, who is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, is at least 21 years old, and has a SingPass account, he or she can also submit your visa application for you on the Submission of Application for Visa Electronically (SAVE) website.
