Entry Requirements
There is no Malay Language requirement for enrolling in Malay Studies at level 1000 or as an elective at any level as the majority of the courses offered by the department are taught in English. (Please refer to the course list for the medium of instruction.)
Students intending to major in Malay Studies should meet one of the following prerequisites:
- A pass in Higher Malay at the GCE 'O' Level Examination; or
- A H1 pass in Malay Language;Â or
- A H2/H3 pass in Malay Language and Literature at GCE 'A' Level Examination;Â or
- A pass in LAM1201 Malay 1 (offered by the Centre for Language Studies, FASS) for students without prior knowledge of Malay
Please note that the Department of Malay Studies does not handle admissions directly. All applications are managed by the NUS Office of Admissions.
