Civilisation of Iran Study Trip (2016)

The programme acquainted participants with various aspects of Iranian civilisation, with particular emphasis on the relationship between Iran and the West in the areas of philosophy, literature and the social sciences.

The programme consisted of lectures by Iranian experts, visits to universities, research centres, museums and other cultural sites. Organised jointly with the Faculty of World Studies at the University of Tehran, an important aspect of the programme was the interaction with Iranians. Participants were introduced to their Iranian counterparts who will join the group for the duration of the programme in Tehran.

Study Trip to Malang

The programme allowed students to immerse themselves in new cultures, partnering up with students from UIN Malang. Students participated in literature and Arabic classes, took part in batik painting and participated in a student forum.

Islam, Modernity and Culture: Jakarta Study Trip (2017)

The programme acquainted participants with various aspects of Islamic thought in Indonesia, with particular emphasis on the challenges presented to modern Muslims resulting from modernization and all that entails. Participants were acquainted with the broad diversity of Islamic thought to be found in Indonesia and to relate this to the cultural context of the country.

The programme consisted of lectures by Indonesian experts, visits to universities, research centres, and cultural sites. Organised jointly with the Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah. Participants were introduced to their Indonesian counterparts who joined the group for the duration of the programme in Jakarta.
