Our Adjunct Assistant Professor, Dr Maria Monica Widharja, has published a new article in Fulcrum titled “When the Indonesian Middle Class Takes to the Streets” (21 July 2026).

Drawing on empirical evidence, the article examines how Indonesia’s shrinking middle class has contributed to a rise in public protests, while highlighting the broader relevance of these developments for countries such as Vietnam and the Philippines.
