Minor in Southeast Asian Arts and Heritage

The Minor in Southeast Asian Arts and Heritage offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant and ever-evolving landscape of Southeast Asian culture. Students will gain a deep understanding of the region’s rich arts and heritage, exploring how they have transformed over time and continue to shape society today. Students will engage with both the historical and contemporary dynamics of cultural, social, economic, and political forces that impact the arts, while also honing practical skills in the visual and performing arts. The program cultivates creative and critical thinking, empowering to tackle complex issues in the practice and management of arts and heritage. Through interdisciplinary approaches and hands-on experiences, including field trips across the region, students will develop cultural competency, aesthetic sensitivity, and a profound connection to Southeast Asia’s artistic traditions and modern-day expressions.

Cohort 2021 onwards

To graduate with a Minor in Southeast Asian Arts and Heritages, students must pass a minimum of 20 Units of courses from a list of SE-coded arts and heritage related courses, including:

  • A minimum of 16 Units of SE-coded arts and heritage related courses
  • A maximum of 4 Units of recognized arts and heritage related courses from outside the Department of Southeast Asian Studies (SEAS)
