A recent groundbreaking study by Assoc Prof Leher Singh (FASS Psychology Dept) on bilingualism and infant learning was featured in The Straits Times (3rd September 2014). In partnership with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research’s Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the National University Health System, this study is part of a long-term project known as Gusto (Growing Up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes, which started in 2009. This study explores the effects of bilingualism in infants and has already discovered, among other findings, that infants exposed to two languages absorb information faster than their monolingual peers.
