The Singapore Research Nexus (SRN) is a unique academic resource covering the wide range of research on Singapore produced by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). It can be found at http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/srn/.
SRN is involved in assisting the FASS Research Division with event organization and repository updating. SRN has been engaged in a project to update and maintain a database of academic research publications and creative work on Singapore. These works all have relevance to Singapore and have been produced by FASS faculty and students, past and present.
We are currently accepting applications to be a student assistant at SRN from NUS FASS undergraduate or graduate students. We need students who possess excellent English language skills as well as an interest in event organization, writing and publication design, and research to join our team. Our preferred candidates are meticulous, possess good interpersonal and managerial skills, have experience in event management, writing, and graphic design, and prompt with responses to queries. Knowledge of Singapore’s research and cultural scene is also an advantage. Additionally, prior experience with WordPress or similar platforms is a definite asset. Successful applicants for this position will be able to source for academic publications, creative work, as well as other Singapore-related research, to add to the SRN website database and for SRN publications. They will also be able to read and understand academic research articles and creative work, and write about them in a clear, accurate, and engaging way. In addition, successful candidates will assist in publication writing and design, research, logistics, and manpower for events organized with SRN and the Research Division.
The application period is until 30 March 2020 or until the position is filled. Successful applicants will start work in April or May 2020 and be appointed for a minimum 3 month to maximum 11 month period. The applicants can work up to 64 hours per month. The position may be renewable.
