Inspire Hope - Be a Social Worker
A Collaboration with the Singapore Association for Mental Health
The NUS Department of Social Work recently collaborated with the Singapore Association for Mental Health to feature the artwork of a service user. We wanted to support our partners in the field by highlighting stories of youth who struggle with mental health conditions. The department also wanted to use the artwork to invite students to reflect on how they can be a part of the journey to empower and uplift the lives of others.
Hopes For The Future
“Been struggling with anxiety during my late teens after my A-Levels. When I stepped into the workforce, that is when I began to have anxiety. All along since young I have been struggling to fit in with my peers as I also have autism. In this postcard design painting, my hope is for society to be more inclusive of those with disabilities and the disadvantaged (e.g. those living with mental health conditions), so that no one will be left behind, and the disadvantaged and those with disabilities could also integrate back and also can contribute to society in meaningful ways.”
Written by youth who struggles with anxiety and depression
There are many youths and individuals in our society today who struggle with mental health conditions. Be a change maker, choose to study Social Work and learn how you can make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged and vulnerable in our nation.
Will you be a part of these youths' journey to find hope?
