The Conference and Training workshop on the Future of Households in Asia
11 January 2024 | 12 January 2024
The Centre for Family and Population Research (CFPR) at National University of Singapore (NUS) plans to hold an international Conference and Training Workshop on Household and Living Arrangement Projections for Informed Decision-Making on 11-12 January 2024.
This conference is funded by the MOE Tier-2 research project, Analyses and Projections of Households and Living Arrangements in Six ASEAN Countries (HOUSEHOLD-ASEAN). The HOUSEHOLD-ASEAN project is to analyse and project the transformation of households and living arrangements in six major ASEAN nations, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam, from 2020 to 2060. These six countries are home to about 600 million people, approximately 90% of the ASEAN's total population. The project aims to forecast the trends of households in six ASEAN nation by the ProFamy method, examine the theoretical models on household transformations in the ASEAN region, and develop a R package of DemoRates to estimate demographic rates and facilitate the application of the ProFamy method. Ultimately, this project aims to project future demands for age-friendly housing and home-based energy in the ASEAN region.
This conference will present the cutting-edge development in research on household and living arrangement in Asia, and will also provide valuable opportunity for participants to learn about the ProFamy and the R package of DemoRates.
