Abstract

This study adopts a family-based approach in understanding the association between family dynamics and behavioral addiction of adolescents in Singapore. By identifying the role of family and the mental health consequences of behavioral addiction, this study will enhance the conceptual understanding of the challenges faced by adolescents, facilitating the design of preventive and intervention strategies to reduce the occurrence of behavioral addiction, as well as the allocation of societal resources to ensure healthy family functioning and healthy development of adolescents. This research will conduct focus group discussions, cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys of 13 to 17-year-old Singaporeans and their parents.
