The Korean Language Programme of the Centre for Language Studies has a great experience and dedicated teachers. The course will be conducted by professional NUS teachers, applying communicative approaches to motivate students and enhance learning outcome. The Korean course is a combination of fun and education. You will find it very different from learning a boring subject in the classroom but our highly experienced tutors will make your learning journey extremely enjoyable and fruitful.

KOREAN LANGUAGE LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Korean Language modules are designed and structured for the busy working professional who aspires to attain language mastery in the Korean Language.
Competencies achieved through attending the progressive modules are useful to building confidence so as to enable the individual to speak, understand and read basic syntax in the newly-acquired language focus.
Modules are designed in a structured and coherent manner, positioned from an adult perspective so that they closely address and match the adults’ learner’s quest for continuing education.

Successful completion of the language competencies are contingent upon participants’ consistency in attendance, and the dedication of time to practice after each class session. Yonsei Korean in 3 Week will be used as a textbook and extra material will be given to you for activities in the class and self-study handouts will be provided too.

A certificate of proficiency is awarded to participants who successfully complete Korean 3.

Pre-requisites

NO MINIMUM STANDARD REQUIRED FOR EMBARKING ON THE COURSE

The Korean Language modules are designed in progression from Level 1 to Level 3. This corresponds to a beginner in the language focus to roughly the equivalent of Beginner Level.

No specific pre-requisites are needed to enroll in Level 1. However, people who have intention to join mid-stage in the series of Levels are advised to conduct the placement test.

Assessments

INCORPORATING ASSESSMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Each module of content comprises some 30 hours, incorporating assessments and assignments. For each of the levels from 1 to 3, there will be an assessment (pass or fail) set for students to gauge their ability and readiness to continue onto the next higher level in Korean Language.
Proficiency Certificates will be awarded to participants who have successfully completed 3 consecutive Levels in Korean Language (i.e. Level 1 to Level 3)

This course is a continuation of Korean 3, aiming to gain intermediate proficiency in the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), grammar, and vocabulary, for personal interaction and communication in authentic situations.
