SUWANNA CHUANROMANEE
Ms Suwanna Chuanromanee is originally from Bangkok, Thailand, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in
Journalism degree from Thammasat University, Thailand. Suwanna went on to pursue her Master of Arts in
Communication degree at the Wichita State University, U.S.A.
She was amongst the cohort of pioneering Thai language part-time tutors at the Centre for Language Studies,
National University of Singapore. Today, the well-established Thai language program is recognized as one of the
largest Thai as a foreign language programs in Asia. She had taught at the NUS from 1999 to 2011. She was also a
Thai language part-time tutor at the Centre for Modern Languages, Nanyang Technological University from 2011 to
2013. With a rich and varied experience in teaching the Thai language to non-native speakers, Suwanna currently
conducts customized independent private lessons at various levels. She enjoys teaching students of all ages from
children, adults to elderly.
During her services at the NUS, Suwanna was actively involved in conceptualizing, creating and executing various
activities and teaching components as accompaniments to courses under her care. She initiated and co-produced
the first “Speaking Exercise Book for Thai Module 2”. She spearheaded the program’s inaugural Thai cultural
workshop. She was a facilitator for a few Thai Language program’s events such as “Thai Night – A Celebration of
the 10th Anniversary of the NUS Thai Language Program”. She is passionate in designing supplementary materials
used for speaking and writing Thai language at both universities. She also co-reviewed a textbook, “Thai Reader
Volume 1”, published on the “Electronic Journal of Foreign Language Teaching” 2010, Vol.7, No. 1, Centre for
