DR OMAR SALAWDEH

ARABIC PROGRAMME CONSULTANT

Dr Omar Salawdeh is the Convenor of the Arabic Language Programme at the Centre for Language Studies/NUS.
He holds a B.A in English Language and Literature from Kuwait University and an M.A in Linguistics from the State
University of Campinas (Brazil). He received his Advanced Studies Diploma and his Ph.D. in Arabic and Islamic
Studies from Cadiz University (Spain) in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
Prior to joining the Centre for Language Studies at NUS, Omar worked as a Term Assistant Professor of Arabic at
George Mason University from 2008-2012, where he taught courses on Arabic language and culture at all levels.
Omar's research interests include Arabic sociolinguistics, al-Andalus, and Muslim-Christian religious polemic in the
Middle Ages.
