VIETNAMESE PROGRAMME CONSULTANT

Mr Thach Ngoc Minh is currently a lecturer and the Convenor for Vietnamese Programme at the Centre for
Language Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore. He obtained his M.A.
at the National University of Singapore, and B.A. (Hons) in literature and comparative linguistics at the University of
Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). After graduation from the National University of Hochiminh City in 1985 he worked full-
time with the Department of Vietnamese Studies, National University of Hochiminh City as a Vietnamese language
teacher from 1985 to December 1996. During his tenure with Department of Vietnamese Studies, he was invited to
the Phnom Penh University in Cambodia for 2 years as visiting lecturer to teach Vietnamese as Foreign Language to
Cambodian student. He thus has extensive experience in teaching the Vietnamese language to foreign students.
He has co-authored, together with other Vietnamese language teachers of the Department of Vietnamese Studies, a
series of Vietnamese language course book for foreigners which have been widely used to teach Vietnamese to
foreign students in universities in Vietnam, in NUS as well as other universities around the World.
