Reading Groups

The CRC hosts reading groups to advance cultural research. The reading groups are designed to bring together graduate students and faculty at NUS and neighboring institutions to meet across and beyond disciplinary boundaries in an informal setting.

Critical Subjects

The CNM CRC Critical Subjects Reading Group investigates the points where culture and politics intersect. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, this reading group will not be conducting any sessions for Semester 1 AY2020/21. We look forward to inviting you again in the following semester.

Cultural Studies in Asia

The CNM CRC Cultural Studies in Asia Reading Group is run by PhD students, and it develops discussions about Cultural Studies through reading groups, workshops, and films. It is also a safe space for students to workshop their writings and receive feedback from fellow students and faculty members.

Queer Studies

The CNM CRC Queer Studies Reading Group is a transdisciplinary group of scholars who have broad and diverse research interests in gender and sexuality. This group is designed to bring together graduate students and faculty at NUS and neighboring institutions to meet across and beyond disciplinary boundaries in an informal setting. Our aim is to promote intellectually rigorous discussion of and theoretical engagement with “classic” texts and cutting-edge works in queer and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) studies. In addition, we will occasionally hold writing workshops for works in progress.
