Valerie YEE Wei Lin

I received my B.A. (Hons) in English Literature with a Minor in Film from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. As a NTU President Research Scholar, I focused on interdisciplinary work between Literature and Film, researching popular culture genres from crime fiction to horror, specifically investigating the restructuring of cinematic narratives in Spanish crime fiction films and analysing aesthetics in horror films. Along with literary and film theory/history experience, I am also versed in screenwriting and film reviewing/critique, practising these skills in the commercial film industry in 2022 before returning to academia.

I am currently working on my M.A. (RSH) in English Literature at National University of Singapore, where I am interested in researching how adaptations and remakes affect the development of gendered bodies over time in contemporary art-horror films.
