Kabuki Dance Drum 2017: the Castle Tower and the Puppeteer
Professor Larry Kominz at Portland State University has been directing Kabuki play in English. Last year he directed The Revenge of the 47 Royal Samurai, or (Chūshingura), the story of the 47 loyal samurai who got together to plot a revenge of their lord. Based on a real historical event, the story of the 47 loyal retainers was one of the most well-known plays in kabuki.
The production this year was on May 31, titled: Kabuki Dance Drum 2017: the Castle Tower and the Puppeteer.”
