“Our Princess Is in Another Castle: There Is No Essence of Womanhood” by Professor Ray Briggs
Abstract:
We develop an approach to gender categories that treats them as irreducible, that is, as full-fledged distinct items in our ontology, alongside sexed biology, gendered behavior, and gender norms. We motivate this approach by appealing to a principle of self-determination, fill in some details to show how it might work, and defend it against accusations of circularity and mysticism.
Presentation is about joint work co-authored with B. R. George.
