Professor Mohan J. Dutta, Head of the Department of Communications and New Media, has won the National Communication Association Outstanding Health Communication Scholar Award!

The Award recognizes a significant and original contribution to the study and application of the field of Health Communication. Prof. Dutta received the award for his contributions to the development of the theoretical framework of the ‘culture-centered approach’. This approach to health communication aims to study how social structures and cultural meanings define our health experiences, and how we negotiate with these structures in turn.

Prof. Dutta is also the Director of the Center for Culture-Centred Approach to Research and Evaluation (CARE), which works on projects such as Heart Health and HIV Prevention in Singapore.
