With the prevalence of the Internet, more concerns about the protection of the young netizens from inappropriate sites have arisen. A/P Chitra Sankaran from the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore, said that Singaporeans should not depend on the state alone to safeguard youth from objectionable material. Apart from the efforts of government, the roles of family and school should be emphasized as well in terms of creating a safe cyber environment.
