FASS Professor Tan Ern Ser calls for balance of issues as Singapore’s population grows at slowest pace in 10 years

A 26 September Straits Times article discussing Singapore’s population growth featured FASS Sociology Professor Tan Ern Ser. As Singapore’s population grows at its slowest pace in 10 years, various issues of demographics are implicated. These include the ageing population, the economy, as well as foreign employment. As such, Prof Tan explains that there has to be a balance between the need for a vibrant economy, a liveable environment, and enough resources to address the problems of an ageing population.
