About the Journal

The Asia Pacific Journal of Social Work and Development (APJSWD) is published four times a year by the Department of Social Work of the National University of Singapore, in collaboration with the Asian and Pacific Association for Social Work Education. It is an internationally refereed journal, cited in the Social Science Citation Index.

Goal

The goal of the journal is to develop and disseminate social work literature that provides linkages among social research, social work education, social work practice and social development at the national as well as the cross-national levels, in the Asia-Pacific region.

Scope

The subject areas of the journal cover the following in the Asia-Pacific region:

  • Ideologies, values and ethics of social work
  • Approaches, methods, techniques and skills of social work
  • Governance, welfare and social development
  • Administration of voluntary/ non-profit organisations
  • Societal systems and social work intervention
  • Social service sectors and social work intervention
  • Social work intervention for marginalised groups
  • Social work intervention in social conflict and emergency situations
  • Fieldwork practicum

 

The journal invites the following types of original contributions related to the Asia-Pacific region:

  • Theoretical/historical/empirical/methodological/epistemological analyses
  • Reviews of policies, programs, legislations, organizations, and practice interventions
  • News from professional associations in social work
  • Reports of Seminars/Conferences/Workshops
