Brief Introduction

Ms Blanca Pérez joined the CLS in January 2021, first on a part-time basis and from 2023 as a full-time lecturer. Previously, she had gained experience as a Spanish teacher in other institutions in Singapore. She worked for over ten years as a freelance translator and interpreter in Germany and for the German-Spanish department in a multilingual dictionary. She holds a Master’s degree in Translation Studies from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (UPF, www.upf.edu), as well as a Graduate degree in Journalism from the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao (UPF/EHU, www.ehu.eus), and is a state-certified translator and interpreter for German-Spanish in Germany.

Teaching Areas

Ms Blanca Pérez teaches Spanish as a Foreign Language for all levels offered at CLS. She understands language as a tool for communication where the learning process must be student-led and focuses on building students’ self-confidence so that they become active and participative learners. Her classes are designed following an inductive-communicative task-based approach with an emphasis on oral practice.
