Brief Introduction

Rungnapa Kitiarsa is a full-time lecturer of Thai language at Centre for Language Studies (CLS), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore since 2013.  She holds two professional master degrees: (1) M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), University of Washington, Seattle, U.S.A (1999) and (2) M.Sc. in Social Development, Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City, the Philippines (1992).  Before joining the Thai Language Program at CLS as a part-time instructor in early 2005, she was a lecturer at School of English, Institute of Social Technology, Suranaree University of Technology, Nakhon Ratchasima, Northeastern Thailand (1999-2004).  She also had teaching experience in Teaching Thai as a Foreign Language at the Department of Asian Languages and Literature, University of Washington, during 1997-1999 when she took M.A.  She considers herself an experienced language teacher/instructor, specializing in teaching both English and Thai as foreign languages to college students from diverse national and ethnocultural backgrounds.  Her research Interests include curriculum development, teaching material development, teaching methodology, and language learning strategies

 

As a part-time instructor, Rungnapa received CLS Teaching Excellence Awards for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011. After joining CLS as a full-time lecturer, Rungnapa was also awarded the Faculty Excellence Awards, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, for three consecutive years in 2014 – 2016.  On 12 May 2016, Rungnapa was one of the award recipients to receive the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award (TEA) for Academic Year 2014-15.
