Economics alumni honoured by the University
Niam Chiang Meng (’83) and Ravi Menon (’87) receive FASS Distinguished Alumni Awards
The Economics department congratulates its graduates Niam Chiang Meng (’83) and Ravi Menon (’87) , who were among the five recipients of the FASS Distinguished Alumni Award 2020.
Mr Niam is the Chairman of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Gardens by the Bay Pte Ltd and MediaCorp Pte Ltd. He previously served in the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Law, and Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts. He was Permanent Secretary at several of these ministries. Mr Niam also served at the National Population and Talent Division and the National Climate Change Secretariat. Mr Menon is the Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). He previously served as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Finance. He is currently Chairman of the Institute of Banking and Finance, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Singapore Indian Development Association.
