Sharing Session on PhD Studies for undergraduate students

Sharing Session on PhD Studies

The Department held a sharing session on 24 October 2024 to provide guidance to students who are interested to pursue a PhD in Economics after graduation. A panel of faculty members consisting of Allen Vong, Kelvin Seah, Kwong-Yu Wong, Paul Jackson, and Sorawoot Srisuma (Tang) engaged students in a lively session to answer various questions like:

·         How should I choose the universities/programs to apply to?

·         What materials do I need to provide when applying to grad school?

·         What courses should I take as an undergraduate to prepare for a PhD?

·         Why choose to do a PhD?

·         What can I expect life to be like as a PhD student?

·         How should I choose my advisor?

·         What jobs can I pursue after graduation?

Through the talk, students developed a better understanding of what PhD life would be like and how they could best navigate the PhD journey.
