Second Major in Theatre and Performance Studies (Cohort 2023 onwards)

Pass at least 40 units of TS courses or TS recognised courses which include the following:

  1. TS1101E Introduction to Theatre and Performance
  2. TS3103 Theatre Lab (8 units)
  3. A minimum of 4 units from each of the following strands:
    (i)  Framing Histories
    (ii) Cultures in Practice
    (iii) Researching Performance (including TS3103)
  4. A minimum of 12 units at level-3000 or higher (including TS3103)
  5. A maximum of 8 units of TS-recognised courses

Programme Requirements

Programme Requirements

To major in Theatre Studies, students need to:

  1. Pass TS1101E Introduction to Theatre and Performance. This will be counted towards the Faculty Core or UE requirements.
  2. Pass at least 36 units of TS or TS-recognised courses which include the following:
    (1)  TS3103 Theatre Lab
    (2)  A maximum of 8 units of TS-recognised courses
    (3)  A minimum of 8 units from each of the following strands:
    (i)  Framing Histories
    (ii) Cultures in Practice
    (iii) Researching Performance (including TS3103)
    (4)  A minimum of 16 units at level 3000 or higher (including TS3103)
  3. The following TS-recognised courses may be read to fulfil TS Major requirements:

Note:

  1. Students majoring in TS will be exempted from the pre-requisites for these TS-recognised courses. To read the TS-recognised level 4000 courses, students must fulfil the general pre-requisites of level 4000 courses. Level 4000 courses carry a general pre-requisite of having completed 80 units including 28 units in the Major, with a minimum GPA of 3.20 OR being on the Honours Track (some level 4000 modules may have different pre-requisites).
  2. Students majoring in TS (Cohort 2016 to 2020) may read GES1029 to fulfil TS major requirements, OR General Education requirements. No double-counting is allowed. Students majoring in TS (Cohort 2016 to 2020) cannot use GES1029 to fulfil UE outside major requirements.

    (iii) Perspectives on Performance (including TS3103)
    (4)  A minimum of 24 units at level 3000 or higher (including TS3103)
