Gary Gereffi (Center on Globalization, Governance & Competitiveness, Duke University)

The Centre was delighted to host its International Advisory Committee member Gary Gereffi as a Visiting Professor from 05th to 31st May 2016. A pioneer in the study of global value chains, Gary is the author of some of the most influential works on global production and development. While at the Centre, Gary offered advice on ongoing projects and shared his deep expertise with us in various research meetings and workshops. In addition, Gary gave a timely seminar on the uptake of global value chains by international organizations, which also offered a retrospective on the intellectual history of the field and a prospective look at the potential of global value chain analysis for international organizations. Gary was based in the Department of Sociology at NUS for the month.
