The GPN@NUS Centre organised a series of six sessions at the 2017 RGS-IBG Conference under the theme of 'Advancing global production networks research: progress and prospects'. The sessions were co-sponsored by three leading journals - Economic Geography, Environment and Planning A and the Journal of Economic Geography. The programme opened with a plenary lecture by Prof. Adrian Smith (QMUL) entitled 'Global production networks and the political economy of contemporary capitalism' which was followed by a panel session (panelists: Stephanie Barrientos, Gavin Bridge, Ben Derudder, Alex Hughes and Henry Yeung) and four paper sessions exploring a range of cutting-edge issues in GPN research, including issues of strategic coupling, labour and environment.
