ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate Programme

Candidates who wish to read Social Work at the Department must be successful in gaining admission to read a Bachelor of Arts degree at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. To read Social Work as a subject major, students must have a strong interest in working with people and should have obtained good results at the GCE 'A' level examinations or International Baccalaureate.

Cohort 2016

  • PL2131 Research and Statistical Methods I (read in place of SW3101 Social Work Research Methods)
  • PL3254 Introduction to Trauma Psychology

Students intending to do a double major in PL and SW are advised to read PL2131 first as it serves as a gate for pursing a major in Psychology, and can be read in place of SW3101.


Cohort 2017 onwards

  • PL2131 Research and Statistical Methods I (read in place of SW3101 Social Work Research Methods)
  • PL3254 Introduction to Trauma Psychology
  • SC2101 Methods of Social Research (read in place of SW3101 Social Work Research Methods)
  • SC2204 Social Inequalities: Who Gets Ahead?
  • SC2212 Sociology of Deviance
  • SC3221 Qualitative Inquiry

Students intending to do a double major in PL and SW are advised to read PL2131 first as it serves as a gate for pursing a major in Psychology, and can be read in place of SW3101.
