A/P Peace Wong Yuh Ju is an Associate Professor with the Department of Social Work and teaches practice modules at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has graduated with a PhD from NUS in 2014, and specialises in social work supervision, youthwork and field education. She excels in her teaching and was awarded the Faculty Teaching Excellence Awards (FTEA) yearly from 2014-2022. In addition, she was awarded Annual Teaching Excellence Award (ATEA) in 2017/18 and 2018/19 & 2022 and was placed on the Honours Roll (2023). She enjoys teaching and has joined the NUS Teaching Academy to contribute her service in education development.
Prior to joining NUS, A/P Peace Wong has worked at the government and social service sector in management, direct service, as well as research to enhance social work practice with children and youths, as well as their families. At present, she actively serves the community through her involvement in the Advisory Board and Discharge Committee & Independent Review Panel (IRP) with MSF, SHINE Children & Youth Service, Counselling & Care Centre, Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW), Fei Yue Community Services – Advisory Committee for Research (ACR) and Student Advisory Committee with a primary school. She was awarded the Friend of MSF Award in 2019, which is presented to individual volunteers or organisations which have made significant contributions to committees or projects under the purview of MSF. She was awarded the Outstanding Social Worker Award (OSWA) in 2023, which is the highest award to social workers conferred by the President of the Republic of Singapore. It aims to recognise the outstanding contributions made by dedicated social workers in Singapore. The award acknowledges their passion and professional contributions to the improvement of the social service and healthcare sectors. In addition, she is also involved in several consultancy projects with the government and social service sector in research, curriculum development and social work supervision. In addition, she actively promotes the understanding of social work supervision in Singapore through writing, teaching, organising social work supervision seminars and developing Social Work Supervision Guide and competency domains.
As a passionate educator, A/P Peace Wong hopes to foster in students a curiosity towards life and learning. She loves the nature and enjoys listening to music, cooking, reading, traveling and climbing Bt. Timah Hill.
