Thesis Title: Towards an Eco-Childism: Discursive Constructions of Child-Nature Relations in Contemporary Chinese Bildungsroman (tentative)

Thesis Research Area:
This study uses the figure of the child as a methodological lens, integrating ecocritical approaches to analyze representations of children in contemporary Chinese Bildungsroman. It focuses on how ecological narratives are culturally articulated through children’s personal development and their connection to China’s modernization, ultimately seeking to develop a framework of “Eco-Childism” with Chinese characteristics.
