Self-Introduction:
The unique charm of the history and culture of overseas Chinese has left a mark on the course of historical development. I have been observing and exploring the multifaceted development of overseas Chinese communities since my undergraduate studies. I taught at the secondary and junior college levels under Singapore’s Ministry of Education previously. In my research, I focus on the history of schools and the development of education in Singapore. My current research outcomes include “Tan Chin Hean and the Society in Singapore Before the Second World War”, “Singapore Chinese Community and Its Relationship with the Chinese and English Schools, 1900-1941”, and “Chinese Community and Leaders’ Sponsorship for Singapore Schools: Case Studies of the Chinese High School and Raffles Institution.”

Thesis Title: Singapore Chinese Community and Its Relationship with Chinese, English, and Missionary Schools in Pre-Independence Singapore (tentative)

Thesis Research Area:
From Singapore’s founding to the colonial era before independence, the formation and development of schools and the education system continually evolved in response to the structure of the immigrant society and colonial governance policies. This study focuses on the relationships between Chinese schools, English schools, and missionary schools and the Chinese community within this historical period.
