Alberto Salvo appointed Dean’s Chair

The department congratulates Alberto Salvo on being appointed the Dean’s Chair from July 2022 until June 2025. The appointment comes with annual research support. Alberto Salvo joined the department as an Associate Professor in 2013. His research areas are environmental and energy economics, industrial organisation and applied microeconomics.  He studies how the behaviour and incentives of economic agents, such as households, workers, and firms, interact with scarce environmental resources, such as air and water. Several current projects relate to households’ awareness of the climate crisis, carbon literacy, and individual action.

To foster a more carbon-conscious society, he is currently advocating that Singapore trial the implementation of personal carbon scorecards, to cover three consumption domains (urban travel, home utilities, and food). You can read his latest Ask Economists column in the Straits Times here.
