Minor in Economics Programme

STUDENTS MATRICULATED IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2014/2015 AND 2015/2016

(FASS and Non-FASS students)

Please note the following requirements:

Pass at least 24 MCs of EC-coded or EC-recognised modules, which include the following:
(1) EC1101E Introduction to Economic Analysis OR EC1301 Principles of Economics (See Note 1)
(2) EC2101 Microeconomic Analysis I
(3) EC2102 Macroeconomic Analysis I (See Note 2)
(4) A maximum of 8 MCs of EC-recognised modules (double counting) for minor programme.

Note 1: BSP1005/BSP1703, RE1704 are preclusion modules for EC1101E/EC1301. Students who have passed BSP1005/BSP1703 or RE1704 need not read EC1101E/EC1301. Please note that BSP1005/BSP1703 or RE1704 are not a replacement for EC1101E/EC1301. Students who have passed BSP1005/BSP1703 or RE1704 are required to read any level-2000 or level-3000 EC elective or EC-recognised module to meet the minimum of 24 MCs of EC-coded or EC-recognised modules for the Minor in Economics programme. The modular credits for BSP1005/BSP1703 or RE1704 are not counted towards the requirements for the Minor in Economics programme.

Note 2: BSP2001,BSE3701 are preclusion modules for EC2102. Students who have passed BSP2001 or BSE3701 need not read EC2102. Please note that BSP2001 or BSE3701 are not a replacement for EC2102. Students who have passed BSP2001 or BSE3701 are required to read any level-2000 or level-3000 EC elective or EC-recognised module to meet the minimum of 24 MCs of EC-coded or EC-recognised modules for the Minor in Economics programme. The modular credits for BSP2001 or BSE3701 are not counted towards the requirements for the Minor in Economics programme.

Note 3:   EC-prefixed module exemptions (with 'EXE' grade) cannot be counted towards the EC minor requirements.

Note 4:   EC minor is offered to non-FASS students and to FASS students
