Honours

Welcome to the Honours Year. We hope that you will have a fruitful year exploring deeper into the various Global Studies themes. The prospectus below is prepared to give you the necessary infrastructure to manoeuvre through this unique year.

To fulfill the Global Studies Honours requirements, students will be required to complete the Core Courses for Honours which includes: GL4101 Research in Global Issues and GL4102 Task Force. These courses are offered consecutively each academic year. Information on other Honours requirements can be found here.

We will offer GL coded 4000-level electives for our majors to read. These courses will add depth to the various themes of the major. The offering of these courses are subject to the research interests of the faculty members. Students may also choose to read 4000-level courses from other departments recognised under their theme.

The prospectus outlines procedures for applying and writing an Honours Thesis (15 Units) or a shorter project through the Independent Study Module (5 Units). We would like to emphasize that students should pay careful attention to the instructions and keep to the deadlines listed to avoid being imposed with any penalties. Students should begin planning for an Honours Thesis a full academic year prior to their graduating semester. This includes not only the topic, but finding an adviser.

**Note: Honours Thesis and Independent Study Module can only be taken in your graduating semester.

Outstanding Honours students stand to win one of the following cash prizes:

(i) Best Global Studies Honours Student, and

(ii) Best Honours Thesis or Task Force Contributor.
