Abstract:

Dr Nandini Anant | Prevalence of Substance Use: Findings from EPYC
An increasing number of youth in Singapore have been abusing substances and are being arrested for doing so. What is the prevalence of youth in Singapore who use different substances, and what proportion of them use multiple substances? This presentation will explore patterns and trends in the prevalence of substance use amongst youth offenders in Singapore.

Ms Nyx Ng | Age of Substance Use Onset: Associated Problems & Antecedents
The proportion of youth drug users arrested in Singapore has increased over the years. What might account for today’s youth’s earlier risky substance use behaviour and how do youth with earlier substance use differ from those with later onsets? In what ways are earlier substance use onset worse than later onset? Youth offenders’ substance use onset age and their associated antecedents and problems are explored in this presentation.

Mr Carl Yeo | Changes in Drug Use: Findings from the EPYC Project
This presentation explores how substance use among youth offenders in Singapore change over time? Was there an increase or decrease in substance use and the kinds of substances used? Importantly, what was the difference between those who quit and those who continued using drugs? Data from 556 youth offenders tracked across 2 years was used to answer these questions.
