About the Course
"Information is a source of learning. But unless it is organized, processed, and available to the right people in a format for decision making, it is a burden, not a benefit” – William Pollard. In clinical practice, there is a compelling need to organize information gleaned from the therapeutic process to organize for relevant insights and support for our clients.
This four-day Intermediate Training (28 hours) is the second core skills training in Gestalt Play Therapy. Designed for those who have completed the Basic Training in Gestalt Play Therapy, the workshop will build on theoretical, skill development and clinical practice from the Gestalt approach with emphasis on developing robust assessment, diagnosis and plans. Balancing didactic discussion, experiential practicum with feedback, and case presentations, participants will learn key concepts and skills that will enhance their therapeutic practice with their clients.
More Information
This workshop is accredited with West Coast Institute (http://westcoastinstitute.us/) and the training hours will be counted towards certification as a Certified Gestalt Therapist with Children and Adolescents with WCI.
Objectives
The workshop will examine closely factors that bring about change and growth for a child or adolescent through the therapeutic process of Gestalt Therapy. Emphasis will be on developing robust assessments, diagnosis and plans so that your team will be able to present case materials using the Gestalt framework in a cohesive manner. Working in small groups, your team will have opportunities for group consultation and practice.
At the end of training, the participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles of assessment using the principles of Gestalt Therapy and the Oaklander Model
- Develop clinical formulation based on the Oaklander Model of Gestalt Therapy
- Make assessments and develop treatment plans using the Gestalt framework
At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to be able to do the following:

- Develop treatment plans and interventions
